Quick info about game

MozgiPro

THIS IS A GAME FOR CLEVER PEOPLE OF ANY AGE, BUT YOU MUST NOT BE A GENIUS. YOU’LL BE A GENIUS AFTER PLAYING IT!

Game takes beginning from Japanese brain-twister. It can take hours to solve such a brain-twister, but an author made solving quicker and added new interesting things into the game.
Unlike similar game from newspapers/magazines this virtual brain-twister can in any time offer you new and new variants for mind training.

The word "Mozgi" in a game name means "Brain". It assumes that You will get a giantic "Professional" brain - so powerful that it will rise like visible flare such as this nice girl have at the picture above J.

ATTENTION: Game supports high modes on SVGA monitors. To set them up, use command line switches.
From the version 0.4 game allows to load
user maps, created for it by author, You or other user; making such maps is also possible!
From version 0.41 You can also
save unfinished game in a file and then load it to continue play.
From v 0.54 you using multiple configurations is possible.

Game rules

If You know what's Japanese brain-twister - do not read this topic.

Game field consists of cells. Each cell is filled with black or white. In columns/rows showed numbers equal to quantity of black cells in column/row, continuously following one beyond other. Filled (black) cells form certain figure. Picture 1 is example of field in end of game when all cells are opened.

Picture 1

When game begins all cells are hidden (drawn in gray color) as on picture 2

Picture 2

You can fill any cell of field. When you "decrypt" (open) picture (e. g. each cell is black or white but not gray), you may finish game. Field in the middle of game showed at picture 3: some cells are yet gray.

Picture 3

You win if your picture is same as source (which was hidden - look at picture 1).

I hope you have understood principle from my scanty explanations and with my "good" English.

The source picture may be randomly generated by program (default) or loaded from mapfile. It’s also possible to create such files (and send them to other MozgiProplayers).

Controlling game

During game you fill cell with black by clicking it with left mouse button, white – right button. If cell already opened (filled) click with any button will close it again (fill with gray). When hints are on- correct move causes drawing of a little flag in corresponding cell.

To stop game click Stop button, to save game click Save, at finish click End.

There are many other controls and operations available in game, but I don’t have time to explain all. They’re easy and intuitive to understand and you can explore them yourself.

System requirements

80386 CPU or higher.
MS DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or higher operating system.
Monitor SVGA, VGA or MCGA.
Mouse or compatible input device.
Any Internet browser required to read this on-line documentation.
You will need some mind to win in a game J.

User maps

Creating user maps

On the main screen select Create. Create map in edit mode and then click Save button.

Install, start, remove game

Installation

Just unzip all files into empty folder. List of files look in files.bbs.

Start

Simply run program or run with one of following command-line switches:

-cconffile use program configuration from conffile; may be needed when multiple users run one copy of the game;
-800 start in 800 õ 600 mode;
-1024 start in 1024 õ 768 mode;
-1280 start in 1280 õ 1024 mode;
-640x400 start in 640 õ 400 mode (I don't know who may want it but...);
-vga start in VGA mode (this is for perverts);
-small start with 3 õ 3 field size (for stupid);
-old main screen in old style (like before v. 0.54).

When setting high SVGA mode you must make sure that your monitor supports it. Under Windows 95/98 you may do following: open Control Panel, there double-click Screen and look Parameters.

Remove

Simply delete files or entire folder containing program.

Potential problems

If your monitor is not VESA-compatible, the game runs in VGA 320x200 256 color mode and command-line switches can't set high display mode.

Program was not designed for Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating systems and wasn't tested with'em. You can try it with any PC emulator, but I don't know what will then happen...

No undocumented MS DOS functions used in program, so program may possibly run on DOS environment not fully compatible with MS DOS, such as PC DOS, IBM DOS, DR DOS, Novell DOS, Compaq DOS, DOS XM etc. You may also try it in DOS box under OS/2. But I haven’t tested under these systems.

If you have found a file named error.log in game directory, please send it me by email. Existence of such file signs thats there were any error(s) in game.

Multi-config

Sometimes one machine is being used by many users (e. g. a home PC in family with a lot of children or workstation in a firm). Each user may have his/her own preferences in game options (colors etc.)

A way to play game for these people is using multi-config. Each may have personal configuration file and specify this file with -c command line switch.

Example:
Imagine, there are two users- Bill and Mike.

Then Bill may run game with command
mozgipro.exe -cbill

Mike may run game with command
mozgipro.exe -cmike

Number of users to have separate program configurations with multi-config is not limited. Remember: username cannot exceed 8 characters :( You MUST NOT manually create or edit any "configuration file" cause program creates, loads and uses it automatically when needed. All what is required- specify Your name as seen above.

If game folder is not writable (e. g. on a network) You are to specify a full file name on Your local drive. E. g.:
mozgipro.exe -cC:\FUN\MYNAME.CFG

Passwords

People who have children younger than 16 may need to prevent access to adult content in game. To do it click "Passwords" in main program menu. The default password after game install is empty string.

Dear boys and girls! Do not attempt to "crack" or "hack" password. It will produce nothing but problems. I dont help anyone who have problems after failing such a "crack".
